About this policy

Permit Driving Log ("the app," "we," or "us") helps a learner's-permit driver and supervising parent or guardian log supervised practice drives, study for knowledge and road tests, and produce a record the parent can certify. This policy describes what the app accesses, how it is stored, and the choices available to your family.

Everything the app records stays in private storage on your device. The app has no account and sends your drive data to no developer or third-party server. It contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking. On iPhone, Apple MapKit may download map imagery from Apple; the developer does not receive that traffic or your routes.

Who the app is for

Permit Driving Log is set up and supervised by a parent or guardian. It is intended to record supervised practice by a teen learner who is accompanied by a licensed adult. During onboarding, the parent or guardian consents to recording and the teen acknowledges it.

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The supervising parent or guardian controls the locally stored data and can delete it at any time.

Information used by the app

The following is entered by you or captured locally only during an active, explicitly started practice drive:

• Precise location and routes. With permission, GPS points map the route, measure distance, record speed samples, and classify day versus night. Recording starts when you tap Start, pauses when the app is not visible, and ends when you tap Stop. The app uses While Using location only—never Always location, geofencing, background tracking, or live sharing.
• Motion. During a visible drive, on-device motion sensors help identify rough moments such as hard braking and sharp turns. The app saves the resulting event summary with the drive.
• Drive details. Date, time, duration, distance, selected conditions, and the supervising adult name entered for sign-off.
• Setup details. State, permit issue date, and study or test progress marked by the user.

The app does not access contacts, photos, an address book, advertising identifiers, health data, or data for advertising or tracking.

Storage and protection

• On-device only. App data is stored in private application storage and excluded from automatic app-data backup. There is no account or cloud sync in this version.
• Encrypted at rest. iPhone files use iOS file protection; Android data uses app-private storage protected by Android file-based encryption after device unlock.
• No developer backend. There is no advertising, analytics, sync, account, or developer server. Apple's MapKit may retrieve map imagery under Apple's terms; your saved log is not sent to us.

Sharing and exports

You may create a JSON backup or PDF progress report. When you choose a destination—such as AirDrop, Mail, Messages, Files, or Android's system sharing interface—the file goes where you direct it. Exports may contain precise routes and a supervising adult's name, so share them only with people you trust. We never receive these files.

Permissions

• Location while using the app records route, distance, speed, and automatic day/night classification while a drive is active and visible. Without it, timer-only logging remains available.
• Motion is processed on-device for the smoothness coach during a drive.

Deleting your data

• Settings → Delete all data erases logged drives, route locations, the local profile, and diagnostics.
• Individual drives can be deleted from History.
• Deleting the app removes its on-device data.

Because there is no sync, deleting local data removes the app's only stored copy. Previously exported files remain at the destination you selected and must be removed there separately.

Children's privacy

The supervising parent or guardian operates the app, provides consent during setup, and controls deletion. If you believe a child under 13 used the app without parental involvement, contact us. Because data remains on the device, deleting it in the app already removes it.

About the driving record

Reports and backups are supporting evidence for a supervising parent's records. They are not a government filing. In Georgia, the parent signs the DDS-7 affidavit in person. In-app sign-off is self-recorded by the parent on the device.

Changes

If data practices change—for example, if optional cloud sync or accounts are added—we will update this policy, its effective date, and the relevant store disclosures before the change ships.
